Level 2 British Sign Language (BSL) Course - In Person ( Brighton )

The Signature Accredited Level 2 in British Sign Language (BSL) is a qualification designed to teach learners to communicate with deaf people using BSL in a range of everyday situations. The qualification will allow learners to participate in longer and more varied conversations than at Level 1.  The learners are able to deal with most routine communication and have enough understanding of grammar to cope with some non-routine communication, gain basic skills and confidence in production and reception of BSL.

To achieve the Level 2 Award in British Sign Language (BSL), learners must pass all 3 units:

• BSL 201 -  Receptive skills - Everyday Conversation (15-25 minutes assessment)

• BSL 202 -  Productive skills - Travel & Holidays (3-5 minutes assessment)

• BSL 203 -  Conversational skills - Eating & Drinking (6-7 minutes assessment)

  
  

The Level 2 Award is suitable for those who:

• want to achieve language skills at an intermediate level to improve communication with deaf people

• are deaf and wish to gain a qualification in their native language

• are family, friends and colleagues of deaf people

• want to progress from Level 1 study in BSL and who may want to progress to more advanced levels of study in BSL at a later date

• are studying for personal development

Course dates

The course will take place on Wednesdays from 6:30pm-8:30pm at The Friends Meeting Place Brighton.

• 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd October (30th half term)

• 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th November

• 4th, 11th, 18th December (25th & January 1st half term)

• 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th January 2026

• 5th, 12th, 26th February (19th half term)

• 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th March 

• 16th, 23rd, 30th April (8th & 16th half term)

• 7th, 14th, 21st May (28th half term) 

• 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th June 

• 2nd, July

In addition to the course, learners are required to commit to 50 hours of independent study.

• 9th July - BSL 201

• 16th July - BSL 202

• 23rd July - BSL 203

Course fee

£750 + online service fee

Monthly payment option:

£100 deposit to reserve a place on the course (non refundable) followed by £65 monthly instalments x 10.  Please use the ' Instalments & Deposits' button to secure your place and pay monthly.
